Dog Days of Winter - Make It!

Happy Monday…said no one ever.

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend. Going to update you on mine soon I hope.

Today I wanted to link up with Mandy @ House of Rose for the Dog Days of Winter.

Today is about something that you made.

For Christmas one side of my family always gets together and has soup and then we exchange gifts. However, the gifts have to be homemade and cannot be over $5. That might sound pretty crazy, but it is possible. This year I think I only spent like $3. I had to buy the spray paint too, but I don’t count that because I will use it again. I really liked the color.

I had seen this before around Pinterest and other places and just thought it was a really neat idea. You can do lots of different things with it.

And all the materials, except the mini clothes pins I already had. Score!

All you need is an old picture frame (can be any size you want) take the glass out and whatever was inside. WJ actually got this frame out of the dumpster at work (free!) and it just needed a little wood glue in the corners to secure it better. We also stapled it too, just for more support. At this point I painted mine and let it dry, but that part is up to you. Then get some chicken coop wire (had a friend that had some extra he gave me, free!), any size. I used the smaller holes for this one, but they have bigger holes if you don’t like the smaller ones. Then lay it next to your frame and cut as close as you can to cut the extra off. I left a little bit on my to help me staple it better, then just trimmed it off at the end. Once you have the wire the size that you need it, just start stapling it around the frame. I did the corners first, then went back and did each side. This might take a little time, so just go slow and make sure you get the staples in there good.  And viola, you’re done! :)

I used mine as a card holder and made these cute little present tags to go with it.

WJ ended up taking this home with him. His momma wanted, so he got it for her. Momma’s boy.

It would be a cute card holder for Christmas. Or you could hang pictures on it. Or recipes, if you wanted it in the kitchen. I thought it was super cute and really easy to make.

Hope you enjoyed my “make it" craft!
